Empowered by Kindness is the theme for October and we chose this theme because it's Halloween month and there's nothing scarier than a world without kindness! When you cultivate a truly kind mindset, you're able to view difficult people and situations at work with more compassion and grace. And when you view difficulties through a lens of kindness, you become more empowered in the sense that your inner peace isn't as easily disturbed, improving the quality of your work day. We filled the box with goodies to inspire our subscribers to develop a habit of practicing kindness to themselves and others!
Personal growth and developing a positive mindset is what My Best 9 to 5 Life is all about and each month, subscribers receive an inspiring personal development book centered around the month's theme. This month, we chose Radical Kindness by Angela C. Santomero. Angela was the creator of TV shows, "Blues Clues" and "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and was also mentored by Fred Rogers of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood so you can already imagine how uplifting and inspiring this book would be! In this book, she teaches you the importance of kindness on a deeper level and how practicing it can transform you and beyond.
To encourage subscribers to practice daily self-kindness, we included the Positive Affirmation Card Set by Notably Paper Company. The set comes with 50 empowering affirmations + 2 customizable ones so you can write in your favorites! It also comes with a wooden stand so you can place it on your desk to channel positive energies and remind yourself how amazing you really are, especially during a rough work day.
To encourage practicing kindness to others, we also included this beautiful set of Encouragement Cards by Bloom Planners. This deck seems to be the subscriber favorite so far and it comes with 30 unique, beautifully illustrated cards with encouraging notes. They're also blank in the back so you can add your own personal message! Give them to colleagues to boost morale in the office, to loved ones or even strangers! They're small enough to carry in your wallet so you can always have a few on hand to brighten someone's day!
The self-care item for this month was this lovely Lavender Vanilla Lip Balm by Bee Bella. Practice self-care anywhere while protecting your lips from the cold air with the relaxing scent of lavender oil sourced from Bulgaria. The beekeepers behind Bee Bella are out of Wisconsin and they pour and craft their lip balms. Made with premium organic and fair-trade ingredients, you can feel good about what you're wearing. Their tube is made of sustainably-sourced bamboo and their logo and flavors are laser-engraved-- how cool is that! Each purchase also helps fund research on the honey bee epidemic-- a great way to practice kindness to nature!
Lastly, going along with the bee theme, we included this adorable Bee Kind Sticker by Mug Haven to serve as a reminder to you and others who see it to "bee kind!" Made of thick, durable vinyl, you can stick it on your tumbler, laptop, etc.!
